In order to foster greater community appreciation and identity and preserve and promote the heritage of San Clemente, the San Clemente Historical Society operates a Museum and Research Center in the Historic City Hall at 101 South El Camino Real. The Museum offers ever-changing displays of local history from the time of the Native Americans to the present, with a special emphasis on the Founders Era (1925-1929) and the Nixon Era (1969-81). Visitors can buy maps to historical sites as well as books and mementos of local history. Archivists are available - by appointment only - to assist serious researchers.
