Entry Room of Museum
Glass top display case contains artifacts from the Founder's Era. There are display boards of old postcards, history of public Safety Services; in addition to historic photographs.  There is a statue of St. Clements in this room.

Wall Map
Wall in entry room is covered with an enlarged 1946 map of San Clemente the "Spanish Village by the Sea" and is surrounded by pictures from the Ole Hanson Era.

Exhibit Room North Wall
Contains display case of Nixon memorabilia, police, fire and lifeguard uniforms, as well as founder's era furniture.

Exhibit Room South Wall
Houses cases of Police, Fire and Lifeguard mementos, Ole Hanson memorabilia and  busts of President and Mrs. Nixon. The wall above the cases is covered with past and present views of San Clemente.

Display Case of Memorabilia from the San Clemente Police Department
This department was formed in 1925 and disbanded in 1993.  Police badges, helmets, patches & leather gear worn by sworn police officers prior to 1993 when san Clemente Police Department was taken over by the Orange County Sheriff Department.

Display Case of Memorabilia from the San Clemente Fire Department
It displays memorabilia from the city's inception until the department became part of the Orange County Fire Department.

Memorabilia of President Nixon's Western White House
Collection of memorabilia from President Richard Nixon's years in San Clemente 1969-1980.

About Us:
In order to foster greater community appreciation and identity and preserve and promote the heritage of San Clemente, the San Clemente Historical Society operates a Museum and Research Center in the Historic City Hall at 101 South El Camino Real. The Museum offers ever-changing displays of local history from the time of the Native Americans to the present, with a special emphasis on the Founders Era (1925-1929) and the Nixon Era (1969-81). Visitors can buy maps to historical sites as well as books and mementos of local history. Archivists are available - by appointment only - to assist serious researchers.
